Pilates

Pilates is a body-conditioning technique designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. Pilates targets the deep postural muscles within the body through a series of exercises aimed at building muscle strength and rebalancing the body. Excellent for improving posture, strength, flexibility and aligning the body correctly. Pilates also teaches coordination, concentration and control of the body. All Pilates classes are run as courses that need to be booked in advance. Those new to Pilates will need to complete a one off beginners session before joining the regular classes. This can be done in a group session or on a 1:1 basis.

Post Natal Pilates is also available for new mums who have been cleared to return to exercise by their doctor. Babies up to 6 months are welcome to come along too. These sessions run on demand so please register your interest via the Mind Body Maintenance website or use the contact details below.

Fitness Yoga

Fitness Yoga is a fitness program that incorporates stretch, strength and yoga postures. It is set to music and the aim is to improve strength and flexibility whilst also calming the mind and relaxing the body. Taught by a qualified “Yoga and Exercise to Music” instructor, we feel this session gives you the best of both worlds.

Meditation & Mindfulness

Meditation is a means of transforming the mind by practicing techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you will learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being, With regular work and patience these nourishing, focussed states of mind can deepen into profoundly peaceful and energised states of mind.

The Meditation sessions take place in the Green Room upstairs at the Vera Fletcher Hall. Numbers are limited and sessions run as courses that need to be booked in advance

Our 1 hour class features the first 40 mins of choreographed jumping routines to burn calories fast and finishes with 20 minutes of muscle toning concentrating on abs, legs, triceps and glutes. A focus on high intensity interval training provides short breaks throughout the class to programme the body to burn calories at rest. It’s fun, friendly and fierce with one requirement: you can’t jump without a smile! It is designed for people of all ages and abilities and there are beginners in every session too, so don’t worry about feeling self-conscious – you’ll see everyone bouncing at their own pace. It usually takes 2-3 sessions to get used to all the bouncing and recognise the moves so stick with it…but here’s a warning: it’s addictive! Take a look here

Standard gym attire with trainers. And ladies, a good sports bra is imperative with all that bouncing around! Bring a water bottle, plus a towel if you like, and most certainly a good sense of humour.

There are some child-friendly sessions in place on Sunday mornings where kids of any age can attend while you workout. Some mums stop to breastfeed, others are managing potty runs or just needing to give cuddles in between jumping along. There’s likely to be a tantrum or two, or sharing your trampoline with your little one – the Instructor just carries on, no-one minds. You don’t have to be a mum to come along, the workout is still the same!

Mummy and Me Ballet

An early introduction to ballet and movement where your little ones can transform into fairies, butterflies and everything magical. There will also be well known activity songs with  which the children will be familiar and love to sing along to.
It aims to develop listening skills, memory, co-ordination and basic motor skills through creative movement. The best bit about this class is that the mums, dads and carers can join in too.
